Clergy Notes — July 28, 2019

As we celebrate our Patronal Festival of St. James this weekend, we are delighted to welcome as the preacher at Solemn Mass the Reverend Dr. Malcolm Guite, Chaplain of Girton College in the University of Cambridge, UK.  I know many amongst us find his poetry enriching and illuminating:  several of Malcolm’s poems, as in this Sunday’s bulletin, have been printed as our Reflection for the week.

Immediately after Solemn Mass, everyone is warmly encouraged to move through to the Parish Centre, where Fr. Douglas Fenton (a former resident!) will lead us in Prayers of Dedication.  While there are still a few things to upgrade and complete, we have been “living into” this newly-adapted space for almost six months:  it is already proving to be an asset to our ministry.  There will be celebratory cake and a libation to follow.

We record our thanks again to generous donors and benefactors, especially the estate of Dennis Loader, which made this work possible, and to the Renovation Committee and Project Manager Nancy Holme for their direction and oversight of the works.  Above all we give thanks for the faithfulness of those who have gone before us and for the rich heritage we have received, and ask God’s continued blessing and guidance on our parish life together.

St. James, pray for us!

Fr. Kevin
