Clergy Notes – Pentecost Sunday, May 23, 2021

Come, Holy Spirit! Fill the hearts of your faithful,

and kindle in us the fire of your love, Alleluia!

We see in the Acts of the Apostles how the coming of Holy Spirit at Pentecost transforms the hearts and lives of the apostles and first disciples, empowering them to grow the new-born Christian church. They are inspired to share the Good News with confidence; they build a community which reflects the self-giving love of Christ.

Holy Spirit, given to us in baptism and renewed at confirmation, lives within us as the divine spark, moulding us more and more, if we allow, into the likeness of Christ, the people, the church, God is calling us to be. Welcome Holy Spirit anew into your life this Pentecost, open yourself again to her transforming, renewing, refreshing love.

Next Saturday we shall be having our parish conversation “St. James’ Beyond Covid-19”. Let us pray for the guidance of Holy Spirit: for the gift of confidence in sharing the Good News we profess, and for grace to shine brightly with the love of Christ in the communities in whose lives we share.

Come, Holy Spirit! Alleluia!
