The Vancouver Cantata Singers will give a free rehearsal of Threnody: Requiem and Remembrance as part of the Heart of the City Festival. The choir will explore choral music of consolation and reflection at this time of year when we honour those no longer with us, along with commentary from Artistic Director Paula Kremer.
St. James’ is a historic building designed in 1935 by Adrian Gilbert Scott who called his design “a modern version of fourteenth-century Gothic.” Its remarkable acoustics are a perfect setting this performance of excerpts from Howell’s Requiem, Jean Coulthard’s Threnody, and John Tavener’s Song for Athene.
